Puzzle Sandwiches

When I was in the second grade, I was very particular. I can remember my Mom getting me ready for school with organized swiftness. Braiding my hair, making my lunch while I dressed, and hustling me and my brother out of the door. Mornings were timed to perfection when my mother was at the helm.

But every now and then, my Mom would have an early meeting - and it was my Dad's job to get us ready. I remember having to lay on the edge of the bed with my head dangling down while my poor Dad used gravity to collect my hair in a ponytail. I would end up going to school with uneven hair and a very uncoordinated outfit! And he would make lunch too!

I'll never forget the time that I opened my lunch and got a puzzle sandwich! It was carefully crafted by my Dad with an accompanying note telling me he loved me. I was so mortified at the time, I don't even think I ate it. But, what a sweet thing for my Dad to do.

I came across this puzzle sandwich cutter. Fun!

Sweet Elizabeth

One of the greats of our time Dame Elizabeth Taylor, passed away this morning of congestive heart failure.  Remembered as a violet-eyed, passionate, courageous, actress and philanthropist; Elizabeth was truly a rare gem.

This Tumblr site dedicated to Elizabeth Taylor has such beautiful photos (like the one above) of the late legend.

Winter Sun

As much as I love winter, I have been so antsy for spring. I have been secretly willing it here by prematurely breaking out some of my spring clothing and pairing it with my winter stuff. The result acutally left me snowed out in rubber boots on Saturday (when the rain decided to swtich gears and let winter have a laugh at my expense). So, until the weather actually get's warmer, I am going to (attempt) to hold off on my spring wardrobe. I may even try to hold off on spring shopping too! Instead I am going to use accessories and peachy-pink lipstick to lighten my mood.

Since winter isn't going away anytime soon, I plan to embrace it. The picture above is of Jon and I in Mt. Tremblant last week. We decided to skip the hill for some skating, shopping, and mulled wine by an outdoor bonfire in the village. The air was crisp and fresh and the sun was gleaming. It was the perfect way to end our trip.

Hello.

Hello! My name is Michelle, and I am absolutely thrilled to be writing this blog. I started Sweet Lemon Stories because I wanted to share a bit of sweetness with my readers. This blog will contain posts on anything from food, to fun, to fashion and all of the sweetness in between and beyond.

A bit about me; I live outside of Toronto with my wonderful man Jon who always has me laughing. I am an old soul, and am always drawn to all things with a vintage or historic feel. I love to learn new things and meet new people.

Thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to leave a comment.
